Hey everyone! Hopefully the first few days of spring have been treating you well, it always feels like a feat when we get through winter here in Toronto.
Today I'm going to be doing a brief breakdown of Pure Sunfarms. This brand is possibly one of the most recognized recreational cannabis brands in Canada. With their competitive price points on cannabis, consistent product and familiar cannabis strains, consumers have made this a go-to brand.
BUDGET FRIENDLY CANNABIS PRODUCTS
I'm not suggesting that Pure Sunfarms is the best of the best when it comes to cannabis in Canada but they're a great option for an everyday smoke. One thing I will give them credit for is the availibility of their products. At Budders Cannabis, we carry all of their bud and they are generally available in 3.5g, 7g, 14g and 28g all for under $10/g.
This drops to almost $5/g when you buy the a 28 gram Ounce. It's kind of hard to argue that legal recreational cannabis is too pricy at this budget. Now onto the brand itself.
Pure Sunfarms is located in the Fraser Valley of Delta, British Columbia. This is one of the sunniest spots on the province and is known as 'Land of the Sun' by the local Tsawwassen First Nations.
Before turning their attention to growing cannabis, this team of farmers grew tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers for 25 years. With this they gained an excellent understanding of the land and turned their passion for farming into growing cannabis.
They have a massive greenhouse grow operation that includes 16 different grow rooms. Each strain is grown in seperate rooms, with each room having customized enviromental controls to bring out the best in each plant. Their portfolio of cannabis has a solid line-up of classic strains and B.C originals. This includes:
This strains lineage can be traced back to OG Kush and is an 80/20 indica dominant. These dense, colourful buds have a high THC range of 18-24, usually hitting the higher mark. Pink Kush is known for it's body focused effects and has spicy, sweet and gassy aromas. This is thanks to it's terpene profile made up of caryophylenne, myrcene, humulene, bisabool and limonene. It comes available in 3.5g, 7g, 14g and 28g. Pure Sunfarms take on Pink Kush is the most cost effective on the market with consistent quality and is a very popular choice for many indica enthusiasts.
Pure Sunfarms was the first on the rec market to drop this legendary B.C strain. It is a 70/30 indica dominant cross of Death Star and Bubba Kush with a THC range of 17-23%. This is another strain known for it's strong body-high, though i personally didn't find it extremely heavy but more on the very chill side. D. Bubba has a terpene profile of caryophylenne, humulene, bisabool, limonene and linalool (very similar to Pink Kush) giving it a spicy, gassy and creamy aroma. It is available in 3.5g, 7g, 14g and 28g.
At the top of the 'Kush' family tree, Afghan Kush is a parent to many of the Kush strains you know today. This old school strain originated on the Afghanistan and Pakistan border and is 100% indica. That's a heavy title (pun intended). This heavy-hitter has a THC range of 18-22% with thick smoke that bites on the inhale. It's main terpenes include myrcene, linalool, caryophylenne and limonene which is what gives it it's signature earthy and spicy aroma. Afghan Kush comes available in 3.5g, 7g, 14g, 28g as well as in pre-rolls and a vape cartridge (which I will expand on later).
This strain is another B.C original. It is a cross of White Widow and what is now an unknown B.C strain. Dense and colourful buds, this indica dominant has a THC potential of 22%. The flavour is known to be sweet, fruity and berry. White Rhinos terpene profile consist of myrcene, limonene, caryophyllene, ocimene and pinene. It is mostly available in 3.5g and 7g here at Budders as well as pre-rolls and a vape cartridge.
This citrusy strain is made up of two unknown sativas originating somewhere from Tofino B.C, apparently making this strain 100% sativa and another B.C original. These buds are covered in orange hairs with a strong aroma of mango, citrus pine. It has a THC range of 16-20%, usually hitting the mid-mark from my experience. It's main terpenes include myrcene, aplha and beta pinene, humulene and caryophyllene. We carry this product in 3.5g.
The parents of this sweet, honey-like strain is the very well-known Jack Herer (also a B.C strain) and a strain called Early Pearl. The result is a 65/35 sativa-dominant hybrid. These bright green buds are covered in amber pistils and have a THC range of 16-19%. It's sweet and spicy aromas are due to its combination of terpenes being myrcene, linalool, humulene and caryophyllene. Island Honey comes available in 3.5g, 7g and a vape cartridge.
There are plenty of 1:1, 2:1 and 1:2 CBD:THC strains on the rec market. But this Pure Sun CBD strain is one of the only, almost pure CBD strains I've come across. With the CBD range usually hitting between 14-17% and THC hitting around 1%, this CBD strain is an excellent value and option for CBD lovers. It comes packaged in 7g quanities for around $50. You could even buy this to mix in with your other strains and create your own CBD:THC ratios.
Vape Cartridges
Pure Sunfarms vape cartridges are a full-spectrum cartridge. Meaning during the extraction process they have retained the plants wider range of cannabinoids and terpenes for a more well-rounded experience that is true to the strain of cannabis used to make the oil. They have no additives and have a smooth, clean flavour. Their half gram carts are available in Afghan Kush, White Rhino and Island Honey at a fair price.
Ingesting
Pure Sunfarms has two CBD oils available for consumers. The first is a 1:10 THC:CBD and the second is a 1:30 THC:CBD for those that are looking for a more potent CBD oil. These oils are created with their signature Pure Sun CBD strain and are made with all natural MCT oil. They have also just recently come out with new edible gummie options. Called White Rabbit OG, these 4 packs of gummies are made with real fruits native to B.C. They are all vegan and gluten free, another bonus for those with dietary preferences! Come into Budders dispensary to see which flavours we have in stock.
And that is Pure Sunfarms in a nutshell. One of the most popular cannabis brands from my experience, providing consistent quality and extremely fair price points. I could go on but the best way to experience this brand would be to try it for yourself. You can check out our cannabis menu on budderscannabis.com and see what we have in stock for Pure Sunfarms or come down to the shop and talk to us in person, we'd be happy to help! Thanks for reading.
